AIRPORT ART PROGRAMS
Airport art programs are a source of great cultural pride displayed at major airports across the globe and introduce newcomers to the heart and soul of a community. The Jacksonville Aviation Authority recognized this need in 1995 and established the JAA Arts & Culture Program. Over the years this has evolved to include the art program, and our volunteer programs, which include the musician program, the ambassador program, the Military Lounge, and JaxPaws therapy dog program. The intention of this art program, utilizing national best practices, is to facilitate all public art procurement needs for Jacksonville Aviation Authority locations and to deliver rotating art exhibits at JAX to provide a positive distraction, soothe and inspire, and educate visitors regarding the abundant artistic and cultural resources available within our service region including Baker, Clay, Duval, Flagler, Nassau, Putnam, and Saint Johns counties. The Jacksonville Aviation Authority and its arts program are committed to showing the work of professional and emerging artists. Its six collective gallery spaces showcase fine art, cultural exhibitions, and the history of flight in Jacksonville. All fine artworks are available for purchase, directly supporting the creatives living and working in Northeast Florida.
Through 26 years of arts advocacy, the Jacksonville Aviation Authority has showcased more than 700 artists in its exhibits and introduced this region's creatives to more than 130,000,000 visitors. We will continue to share the spirit of Northeast Florida with the world for generations to come.
